| Israeli Demolitions Leave Palestinians Homeless | | IMEMC -
"Israel uses the pretext of building without a permit to carry out demolitions of Palestinian-owned homes on a regular basis. Israel rarely grants Palestinians permits to build in East Jerusalem, though the Jerusalem municipality has claimed that, compared to the Jewish population, which sees high approval ratings, they receive a disproportionately low number of permit applications from Palestinian communities." - id | 29/11/2018 |

Supreme Court has approved the evacuation of 700 Jerusalemite
Palestinians from their homes in the Silwan neighborhood of east
occupied Jerusalem, Makan Israeli Broadcasting Corporation

| Israeli right storms Jerusalem mayoral race | | Akiva Eldar -
Al-Monitor
"The new mayor, by his own admission, is “in the pocket” of his
“boss” Liberman, as he terms his long-time political benefactor. In
recordings from 2014 obtained by Haaretz, Leon is heard saying that
Liberman takes his support for granted. Undoubtedly, the hawkish
head of Yisrael Beitenu will turn the holy city into his political
bedrock ahead of the elections to the 21st Knesset, which may be
moved up to early 2019 due to the shrinking of the government
coalition following Liberman’s resignation. Still, he will be
obliged to share it with Leon’s other sponsor, ultra-Orthodox Shas
chair Aryeh Deri." ca

| Palestinian Governor of Jerusalem arrested by Israel, over land sales | | The Times of Israel/AFP - The Palestinian Authority Governor of
Jerusalem, Adnan Ghaith, was detained by Israeli police on his way
out of a family member’s wedding. As Israel maintains a tight
control over the Arab neighborhoods, the titular PA Governor of
Jerusalem in fact maintains a kind of shadow government in
opposition to the Israeli one. Ghaith, appointed Governor by
President Abbas in late August, lives in Jerusaelem’s Silwan
Neighborhood, long a major target of aggressive Israeli settlers. He
is a longtime Fatah activist and proponent of
non-violent struggle. Israeli Security forces say Adnan
Ghaith is being held on ‘money-related issues` but refuse to
further elaborate. Unofficial reports relate his detention to the PA
arresting (or kidnapping, as Israel regards it) a Palestinian-
American resident of East Jerusalem involved in the sale of a home
in the Muslim Quarter of Jerusalem’s Old City to settlers. [The
Israeli Combatants for Peace movement, long time partners of Ghaith
in various protest actions, will tomorrow (Wednesday) hold a protest
at Hizmeh, calling for his release. AK]

| Report: Israel Continues with Ethnic Cleansing Policies in Occupied Jerusalem | | IMEMC - Within the Israeli plans to complete the settlement belt around Jerusalem in general, and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in particular, the Israeli High Court has approved the largest settlement projects in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood of occupied Jerusalem, using the Absentee Property Law, which stipulates that Palestinian properties before 1948 were extracted away forever, unlike Jewish property, and there is no right of return according to Israeli law.
The project paves the way for the construction of an 8-storey settlement, each of which consists of 12 stories. This is the largest displacement that the city has witnessed since 1948. [The report also includes data about settlement policy in the West Bank-bz] | 27/11/2018 |
