The world is a dangerous place to live; not because of the people who are evil,    but because of the people who don't do anything about it

IDF plans demolition of home of suspected shooter in deadly Tapuah attackEmanuel Fabian and Judah Ari Gross - Times of Israel - The army mapped out the West Bank home of a Palestinian man suspected of carrying out a drive-by shooting attack at Tapuah junction that left one Israeli student dead and two injured, in preparation for its potential future demolition. Muntasir Shalabi, 47, is suspected of driving up to the Tapuah junction in the northern West Bank on Sunday and opening fire at a group of young Israelis who were students at the nearby religious seminary at the Itamar settlement, fatally wounding one of them, seriously injuring a second and lightly wounding a third. Israeli authorities often take punitive action such as home demolitions even before a conviction in cases of those charged with terrorist attacks. Jerusalem defends the practice of razing the family home of attackers as a deterrent against future assaults and officials have argued that speed is essential, claiming that the deterrent factor degrades over time.[ak] 7/5/2021

Army kills a 16-year old boy near NablusPalestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) - Demonstrators gathered in the center of Odala village, southeast of Nablus, to protest the army`s harsh invasion of the nearby `Aqraba village and the closure imposed on that village for two days. The Odala protesters headed to the army checkpoint at the village entrance and threw stones at the soldiers stationed there. The troops fired teargas canisters and live bullets at the protesters. As a result, Sa`id Yousif Mohammed `Odeh (16), who was few meters away from the soldiers, was wounded and then directly arrested; most of the protesters did not notice his arrest. His 24-year-old cousin was wounded with a bullet in his back, and the protesters were able to drag him to safety and put him in a civilian car to drive him to a nearby clinic in Bita village. On arrival there he told of his younger cousin being wounded and detained. Another ambulance headed to the checkpoint, and arrived there after being was held up for 15 minutes - whereupon the army delivered to them the boy`s dead body. At the Rafidia Hospital in Nablus, it was found that his death was caused by two bullets; one entered in the right side of his back and exited the left side of the waist and the other in the right shoulder. [ak] The protesters informed the PRCS that there is an injured person in the clinic, without knowing of the Odeh’s injury and arrest. When a PRCS ambulance arrived at Odala Checkpoint, IOF held them for 15 minutes before allowing them to cross the checkpoint at Odala village entrance. The ambulance arrived at Bita Clinic, and Odeh’s injured cousin told them that his cousin, Sa`id Odeh, was wounded as well but arrested by the IOF. Another ambulance headed to the checkpoint but was held for 15 minutes by IOF. The ambulance was then allowed to take the child`s corpse from the Israeli ambulance. The corpse was taken to Rafidia Governmental Hospital in Nablus, where it was found that he was injured with two bullets; one in the right side of his back and exited the left side of the waist and the other in the right shoulder, causing his death as stated by the physician who examined him to PCHR`s fieldworker. 6/5/2021

The US cannot continue ignoring Israel’s crimes in Jerusalem : The Biden administration has to get tough on Israel, if it wants to make a difference in the Middle East.Daoud Kuttab - Aljazeera - It has become almost a cliché. A new US administration takes over and lowers the expectations that it will step up efforts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, listing instead new foreign priorities, such as Afghanistan, Russia and China. The Biden administration has similarly indicated its lack of serious interest on the Palestinian issue. But violent protests and confrontations that broke out in occupied East Jerusalem earlier this month should force the US leadership from their apathy.(rh)2/5/2021
