|The Popular Commitee in Bilin : Report and request for help||On July 17 at 2am, jeeps full of soldiers invaded the village of Bil`in. After arresting Muhammed abde al fatah burnat (age 21) the soldiers tried removing him by foot to the military outpost. International and Palestinian activists blocked the path of the army units, demanding his immediate release. The army responded by hitting activists with their rifles, throwing percussion grenades, and spraying chemicals in activists` faces. ||18/7/2009|
|Bring on the Band : Atara/Bir Zeit Checkpoint, Sunday 12.7.09||Tamar Fleischman - Machsomwatch - People sat still inside the bus and waited. Then noises echoed from the enclosure: thuds, rifle cocks and loud cries. Immediately, as if agreed upon in advance, the men all broke out of the bus door and ran towards the soldiers` gun barrels, bare-chested and crying in English: `Kill us! Kill us! We want to die now! Bring back the driver!`

| The checkpoints are alive and well in the OPT||Machsom Watch-
An empty shell greets us. Not a vehicle in the taxi parking lot. Not a single human being in sight in the former checkpoint`s long lanes, now eerily empty. But at the roadside positions, soldiers are in place, as well as in the lookout tower by the roundabout. The commander tells that Palestinians can all cross, as can "Arab Israelis." As for Jewish Israelis, "What would they want to go to Nablus for?"||25/7/2009|
|IMF: Israel must ease restrictions further to boost West Bank economy ||The Associated Press -
"They include military checkpoints, a massive West Bank separation barrier, cumbersome inspections of Palestinian cargo at crossings into Israel and Jordan and the two-year closure of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip."
|Viva Palestina convoy from US to Gaza stopped in Egypt ||Saed Bannoura/ Katherine Orwell - IMEMC News/International Middle East Media Center - "We complied with all the Egyptian bureaucratic procedures and there should be no further reasons delaying transportation of hundreds of thousands of dollars of medicine, which are time-sensitive and perishable and which need to reach the children of Gaza" said British Parliamentarian George Galloway. ||14/7/2009|
|Israel`s wall still deepening the divide||Ben White - The Guardian - Five years ago today, the international court of justice in The Hague published its advisory opinion on Israel`s separation wall in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT). The keenly awaited verdict, requested by the UN`s general assembly, was clear: Israel`s wall is illegal, it must be removed and adequate compensation paid.
|5th Anniversary of ICJ Advisory Opinion on ‘The Wall’ ||PCHR - Press Release - In its Advisory Opinion, which represents an authoritative interpretation of international law, the ICJ held, inter alia, that: the construction of the Wall and its associated administrative regime are illegal and amount to de facto annexation; the Wall violates Palestinians’ legitimate right to self determination; the Wall must be dismantled, and reparation made to affected Palestinians; all States are under an obligation not to recognize the illegal situation resulting from the Wall, and not to render aid or assistance in maintaining the resultant illegal situation.
|Flying in face of previous government`s decision: Temporary route of West Bank fence puts Beit Iksa on `wrong side` ||Amos Harel -

|Israel`s barrier to progress : Far from protecting anyone, the controversial separation wall can only give a false sense of security||Seth Freedman - The Guardian - Whether the near-cessation of suicide attacks is down to a policy of ceasefire or an increase in informers tipping off the Israeli authorities, the wall itself has very little effect on the statistics. If anything, it increases the likelihood of renewed violence against Israeli citizens in the long term, thanks to its crippling impact on life for Palestinians affected by the route of the barrier, and their belief that their situation is unlikely to ever improve.
|Palestinians forced to seek work in Israel||Joseph Krauss - AFP\ Yahoo! News - "The covert commute testifies to the economic despair in the occupied West Bank and calls into question Israel`s claim that its controversial separation barrier keeps Palestinians from entering clandestinely. The vehicles are driven by Israelis, either Jews or Arabs, who are part of smuggling rings that straddle the boundaries of the conflict and often include Jewish settlers, soldiers and bribed checkpoint officials, Abu Ali says. He charges around 50 dollars per person, but says he pockets less than 10 of it, with the rest paying the other people involved in the ring"||20/7/2009|

|MachsomWatch - Huwwara and Beit Furiq Checkpoints (Nablus area), Sunday, 5.7.09, PM||Tal H. - MachsomWatch - "And here we suddenly run into pictures from the past… A growing line of cars wait and wait to be inspected on their way out of Nablus, on a single lane with the incoming cars, by a single soldier. Incoming traffic stocks up too, and the line sometimes bulges into the apartheid road dangerously, where the settlers fly by in their cars speeding to Elon More. […] In view of the opposite procedures of late, we cannot help assuming that this is some private initiative of a soldier or checkpoint commander who are bored and have found a way to harass Palestinians again"||6/7/2009|
