Israel accelerates settlement expansion after Annapolis Adri Nieuwhof - The Electronic Intifada - ...the Israeli authorities announced plans, approved by Olmert, for the construction of an additional 2,900 units in settlements in the West Bank, including 750 units in Giv`at Zeev, and 1,900 housing units to be built this year for settlers who had to leave Gaza in 2005. In addition, Israel worked on the advancement of another 9,500 housing units in and around East Jerusalem, of which over 5,000 units have already been submitted for public review. According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz the municipality of Jerusalem started the process of approving a plan for a new settlement complex with a synagogue in the Palestinian neighborhood of Silwan. 12/6/2008

Israel under fire over East Jerusalem settlement plansReacting to the East Jerusalem settlement tenders, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters at a press briefing that "our position on the settlements is that we don`t believe that any more settlements should be built, and we know that it exacerbates the tension when it comes to the negotiations with the Palestinians." After soldiers stood near the house and conversed with the settlers, but did not carry out an action to actually stop the attack, the father shouted at the attackers that he had called the police and they were on their way to the house, which incensed the attackers. Later that day, the father filed a complaint at the Kiryat Arba police station about the event. 5/6/2008
4 June `08: Petition to the High Court of Justice: Immediately halt construction on 9 houses in Ofra settlementB`Tselem - Press Release - 9 new permanent structures are currently being built in the settlement of Ofra, situated east of Ramallah. The structures, not currently occupied, are constructed on privately owned land belonging to 5 Palestinians. The Israeli authorities have confirmed this to the petitioners, and even emphasized that cease and desist orders and demolition orders had been issued on the houses roughly 6 months ago. Despite this, the petition states, construction continues furiously, without the authorities taking any steps to implement the orders they themselves issued.5/6/2008
