The Nightmare is Now Israel’s Too | | Joharah Baker - MIFTAH - Last week, the so-called Hilltop Youth raided the Jordan-Israel border in protest of what they thought was Jordan’s interference in matters concerning the “Temple Mount”, taking over churches there until the embarrassed Israeli military came and kicked them out. Earlier that day, settlers attacked an Israeli army base, pelting their own soldiers with rocks, in protest of a settlement outpost evacuation.

Palestinians are heroes, braving Israeli dictatorship | | Amira Hass - Haaretz - The thugs of the hills are only the icing on the cake. Most of the work is being done by thugs wearing kid gloves. Unlike the people who threw the stone at the deputy brigade commander, these are fan favorites in Israel. The flesh of our flesh. Officers and soldiers, military jurists, architects and contractors in the service of the army, Interior Ministry and National Insurance Institute clerks. rh | 21/12/2011 |

State Attorney finds it difficult to defend "The Boycott Law" | | Gush Shalom - The State Attorney`s Office asked the Supreme Court judges for more time to answer the appeals against the "Boycott Law", under which anyone who calls for a boycott of the settlements and their products is liable to be prosecuted and heavily fined. The State Attorney`s staff themselves are known to be far from happy with that law, having tried their best to dissuade the right-wing majority in the Knesset from enacting it - which might help explain their difficulty in formulating its defense.

Their parents and other adults engage in similar behavior, blocking the school steps with their cars to make it difficult for students to pass or setting their dogs loose to chase and terrorize young children’” | 19/12/2011 |

West Bank village steps up protests against Israel’s theft of land | | Ben Lorber -
EI
"For approximately five months, the residents of Kufr Qaddoum have united to demonstrate against the illegal Israeli settlement of Kedumim and the Israeli military’s closure of their village’s main road. Kufr Qaddoum, a West Bank village so old that, according to legend, Abraham was circumcised there with an axe, has since 1976 been plagued by Kedumim, a 3,000-inhabitant Israeli settlement that now surrounds the village on five hilltops. Kufr Qaddoum’s main road, which passes through Kedumim to link the village to Nablus, was closed by the Israeli military in 2003." ca | 16/12/2011 |

"Brig. Gen. Nitzan Alon`s is eminently qualified for the post, but there is also a special sting in the knowledge that in the current stormy atmosphere, the settler leaders will have to get along with the man whose attitude, they say, is "stacked against the settler movement." ca

Haaretz
"The police`s Shai District, which is responsible for the West Bank, consistently fails to conduct even the most basic investigatory actions, such as taking fingerprints, checking alibis, questioning witnesses and conducting identification line-ups. As a result, case after case - against settlers and Palestinians alike - is either closed without going to trial or thrown out of court, Haaretz has found." ca | 9/12/2011 |
