Former settlement land to return to Palestinian owners after 35 years | | AFP/Ma`an - This land, belonging to the
Palestinian village of Burqa, was confiscated in 1978 and the settlement
of Homesh erected. Homesh was one of four small West Bank settlements
evacuated by Sharon in 2005, simultaneously with the Gaza Disengagement.
However, the confiscation order remained in force, barring Palestinians,
and after some time settlers started coming back. Burqa residents
who appealed in 2011 to the Supreme Court were now informed by the army that the
confiscation order had expired. They have the right to go back to the land - but the armed settlers are still there. ak | 17/9/2013 |
