Rising tensions in Silwan | | Elior Levy - Ynet - "While the amount of settlers here increases, so is Hamas` popularity," K. explains. "The Hamas men come to children and tell them: `Look at the Israelis taking our lands,` and that`s how they convince them that violent resistance against Israel is the best solution. Israel`s giving terrorism a reason to grow." [bz] | 28/10/2014 |

Former UK Minister: a wicked cocktail of occupation and illegality akin to apartheid South Africa | | Nicholas Watt - The Guardian - Sir Alan Duncan, Former Tory
minister, delivered one of the strongest attacks on the Netanyahu
government by a front line UK politician: “Occupation, annexation,
illegality, negligence, complicity: this is a wicked cocktail which
brings shame to the government of Israel. It would appear that on
the West Bank the rule of international law has been shelved. This
illegal construction and habitation is theft, it is annexation, it
is a land grab – it is any expression that accurately describes the
encroachment which takes from someone else something that is not
rightfully owned by the taker. As such it should be called what it
is, and not by some euphemistic soft alternative." | 14/10/2014 |

Israeli settlers criticised for overnight move into hotly disputed East Jerusalem | | BEN LYNFIELD - The Independent - Last month Jewish settlers took over six properties in another area of Silwan, in the biggest settler acquisition in the neighbourhood since Jews began moving there two decades ago. The White House called the move a provocation, but the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the settlement is just a question of Jews being able to buy property in Israel’s capital.-rh | 23/10/2014 |

EU mulls `blacklisting` settlers convicted of crimes | | Reuters/Y-net - European diplomats consider new measures in response
to `high level of frustration` over West Bank settlement enterprise.
A senior official said that a list of "Israeli settlers who have
been convicted of crimes" has been drawn up and "all paperwork
done", though the decision to ban them from entering the EU was not
yet taken. Such a measure would only affect directly some 100 to 200
people, and be complicated to enforce since some of them have
European passports themselves. However, "it would send a strong
message that the EU means business". ak | 14/10/2014 |

Extremist settler Moshe Feiglin, Likud MK, allowed to invade Al Aqsa Compound | | Saeb Erakat - PLO Negotiations Aairs Department - As instructed by
The Israeli
Government, Israeli Police in Occupied East Jerusalem allowed
settler Moshe Feiglin - Likud Knesset Member living in the illegal
settlement of Karnei Shomron - to invade Al Aqsa compound, the third
holiest site in Islam and a symbol for all Palestinians, in company
with other Israeli extremists. This is an extremely provocative
action, especially considering Feiglin`s inflammatory statements
such as his call during the recent bombings to evict Palestinians
from Gaza and settle Jews in their place, and such statements as
"You can`t teach a monkey to speak and you can`t teach an Arab to be
democratic. You`re dealing with a culture of thieves and robbers.
Muhammad, their prophet, was a robber and a killer and a liar." ak | 14/10/2014 |

EU Bans Israeli Dairy Products made in Occupied West Bank Settlements from January | | Gianluca Mezzofiore - International Business Times - The EU ban on
settlement-produced dairy products will take place from January
2015. The Israeli agricultural ministry informed dairy factories
built beyond the pre-1967 Green Line, including in the unilaterally
annexed Golan Heights and East Jerusalem, that "it will no longer be
possible to export to Europe dairy products produced over the Green
Line, either directly or indirectly". The ban on dairy products,
along with all other animal products such as eggs and poultry, was
announced in August and based on the EU`s refusal to recognize
Israel`s claims to areas over the pre-1967 lines. Agriculture
Ministry spokesman Amnon Lieberman said most settlement dairy
products have been directed to the local Israeli market only a small
part of it, mainly powdered milk, will be effected by the closing of
the European exports.

Let’s not give too much credit to Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, however. The decision to segregate the evening commute wasn’t all that creative.
