Israel Broke Ground on 1,800 Settlement Homes in 2015, Peace Now Says | | Chaim Levinson - Haaretz - Last year, construction included 1,550 permanent housing units and 250 prefab homes. ... In addition, three more outposts have been authorized, amid the announcement that several others will be authorized. “The government’s message to the settlers is ‘Carry out illegal construction and we will approve it retroactively,’” Peace Now wrote.

West Bank Settlers’ Listings on Airbnb Draw Palestinian Anger | | Steven Erlanger - The New York Times - The Palestinian Authority has condemned the company for “effectively promoting the illegal colonization of occupied land.” Settler groups, naturally, have fought back, encouraging more residents to list their homes on the site as a new platform to promote their intention to expand the state of Israel beyond its pre-1967 lines, and guiding journalists on tours of carefully selected properties.-rh | 10/2/2016 |

Ending Business Activity in Settlements Isn`t `Collective Punishment` | | Sarah Saadoun - Forward - Ignoring the different legal status of Palestinians and settlers, Eisner argues that the withdrawal of settlement businesses would collectively punish settlers. But these businesses should not have been providing services to the illegal settlements in the first place. Settlement businesses unavoidably contribute to Israel’s violations by facilitating the operation of settlements and contributing to Israel’s confiscation of Palestinian land and other resources. They also entrench and benefit from this discriminatory system.-rh

How Businesses Profit from Israeli Settlements | | Shawan Jabarin - Open Society Foundations - Israeli and international businesses play a large role in sustaining the settlement enterprise, both through building, financing, and servicing the settlements, and operating out of them. These businesses are therefore benefitting from settlement expansion and maintenance of the status quo. Business interests are the pillars that support the occupation.-rh | 17/2/2016 |

Israeli settlements as a limitation to the two-state approach | | Verena J. Nitschke - This paper is going to focus on the humanitarian and political effects of the Israeli settlement policy, evaluating especially the impact it has on the two-state approach.
Due to its effect on the two-state approach, the settlement policy of Israel is not only relevant for the Palestinians whose human rights are restricted, but also for the whole international community and especially the states in the Middle East. The situation in the
Middle East and the inter-state relations have an immense impact on international security as well as on the living conditions under occupation in the Palestinian territories. A solution for
the conflict between Israel and Palestine, and thus a peaceful co-existence, can only be achieved, if either the one-state approach or the two-state approach will be accepted, adopted and established. The one-state solution would result in both nationalities, Israelis and
Palestinians, living peacefully together in one territory, whereas the two-state approach concludes in two separate states, existing independently but peacefully next to each other.-rh
