Palestinian family wins Supreme Court ruling evicting settlers from Hebron home | | IMEMC - Israel`s Supreme court accepted an appeal by the Hebron
Reconstruction Committee and ordered the removal of settlers
illegally occupying Abu Rajab family home in Hebron, after the
family proved its legal ownership of the property. The settlers
claimed to have bought the house, but the person who supposedly
"sold" it was not the owner. The state authorities told the court
that they will try for a week to persuade the settlers to vacate the
house, failing which they will be removed by force. After moving
into the house, the settlers had assaulted a 55-year-old woman from
Abu Rajab family, causing cuts and bruises. They also harassed
Palestinians living on the upper floors of the building, trying to
make them leave. [ak] | 29/8/2017 |

Advocate defending illegal settlement houses on behalf of the state lives himself in an illegal settlement house | | Jacob Magid and Alexander Fulbright - Times of Israel - Attorney General Mandelblit refused to defend at the Supreme Court the "Regulation Law" enacted by the Knesset, under which some 4,000 settler houses built illegally on privately-owned Palestinian land would be retroactively legalized. In an unprecedented move, Mandelblit intends to actually present to court arguments against that law. The government secured instead the services of a private attorney, Harel Arnon, who crafted a 156-page brief arguing that there is only "a minor infringement of property rights" involved and that there is an overriding "national interest". He went on to claim that
it would actually be "good for the Palestinian owners themselves" to
have their land confiscated. In fact, Adv. Arnon is also arguing on
his own personal behalf; he himself lives at an illgal house at the
settlement of Elazar. [ak] | 22/8/2017 |

Halamish settlers raid Kobar village, Israeli forces intervene, injure 1 Palestinian, escorting the fleeing settlers | | Ma`an - Some 200 Israeli settlers from the nearby illegal Halamish settlement -- where last month, a Palestinian teen from Kobar stabbed and killed three Halamish settlers -- raided the Kobar village overnight between Thursday and Friday and “attempted to attack locals, who resisted them, leading the settlers to exit the village.”
According to locals, the settlers entered through the southern part of Kobar, and when locals resisted them, they fled towards the Jibiya village, only to be surrounded by youths from the two villages.
Israeli forces then arrived to the Jibiya village to protect the settlers, opening live fire, rubber-coated steel bullets, tear gas, and stun grenades, injuring one youth with live fire.
Israeli forces then escorted the settlers back to the Halamish settlement. [bz] | 5/8/2017 |

"Houses in Shaarei Tikva were constructed after signing of Oslo
Accords, which gave the Palestinian Authority control over the land
— Five homes in the Shaarei Tikva settlement in the northern West
Bank were reportedly built on land allocated to the Palestinians
under the Oslo agreements. While a construction permit for one of
the houses was given prior to the signing of the 1995 Oslo II
Accords, work on the structure began only afterward, according to a
report Monday by the Walla news site. The other four homes, however,
were all approved and developed after the bilateral agreement signed
by Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization that divided the
West Bank into three administrative categories." ca
