Ashrawi: `Netanyahu more committed to settlement expansion than to peace` | | Ma`an News Agency -
"Netanyahu’s speech in which he declared that the illegal
settlements will not be removed attests to his intransigence and
willful refusal to abide by international law and conventions,
standing UN resolutions, and global consensus,” Ashrawi said,
calling Netanyahu arrogant and accusing him “turning such
international norms into a mockery.” ca | 29/9/2017 |

IDF Guard Post Placed in Area A to Protect Settlers Driving Illegally Through a Palestinian Area | | Peace Now - Several weeks ago, the army placed a pillbox in the
heart of the Palestinian village of Khursa, aimed at protecting
vehicles of the Negohot settlers, who drive through the village.
Khursa is defined as "Area A" where the army is not supposed to post
soldiers and where Israeli citizens are (officially, at least)
forbidden to enter by the army. But the settlers ignore the army`s
order and take a shortcut through Khursa. Rather than enforce its
order, the army now posted soldiers to safeguard the settlers. The
settlements of Negohot itself was established illegally in 1999 -
but rather than evict the settlers, the governemtn eventually
granted them "retroactive legality". [ak] | 26/9/2017 |

They did not present us with a closed military zone order, so we continued walking. Suddenly the armed settlers from Carmel appeared. They treated us as if we were ‘terrorists.’ [bz]

Every night, settlers harass the Umm al-Kheir villagers | | Li Lorian - Ta’ayush - In these hot summer nights, people often
sleep outside. For the villagers of Umm al-Kheir in the South
Hebron Hills, this has become a rather dangerous practice. In the
past five nights, every hour on the hour a large stone is lobbed at
the village from the nearby Israeli settlement of Carmel, with the
sole aim of depriving the villagers of their sleep. Last night
Ta’ayush activists spent the night with the people of Umm al-Kheir.
When we called the police after the first stone was thrown, we were
told they would call us back. They didn’t. [ak] | 5/9/2017 |
