Occupation magazine - Documents & Data Home page  back Print  Send To friend ISRAEL REFUSES TO ATTEND THIS YEAR TO VALLADOLID (SPAIN) TOURISM FAIR AFTER THE BOYCOTT ACTION MADE LAST EDITION Platform of Solidarity with Palestine-Valladolid--November 28, 2010 http://plataformapalestinavalladolid.blogspot.com/ ISRAEL REFUSES TO ATTEND THIS YEAR TO VALLADOLID (SPAIN) TOURISM FAIR AFTER THE BOYCOTT ACTION MADE LAST EDITION The boycott action was organized by the Platform of Solidarity with Palestine of Valladolid Platform of Solidarity with Palestine-Valladolid Valladolid.- The State of Israel has refused this year to attend to the XIV Valladolid Tourism Fair INTUR, which started yesterday, 25th November, after the strong boycott action organized in the 2009 of edition by the Platform of Solidarity with Palestine of this Spanish city. Last year, members of the Plattform stood near the four corners of Israeli stand and informed to everybody who approached about the occupation, the illegitimate tourist destinations offered by Israel (such travels to East Jerusalem and Golan Heights) and the BDS campaign. In an action of counter information, the activists of the Plattform delivered tourism advertising of Palestine and invited the Valladolid people to spend their holidays at Palestine. The activists were expulsed by the Police, amongst a great scandal and criticism of the public. Outside, it was held a demonstration against the occupation. After that, Israel has decided not to come back to Valladolid this year. That�s one of the BDS actions taken place in Valladolid. In October, the City Council of Cigales -a town of the Spanish province of Valladolid- has removed the Israeli bottled water Eden Springs Ltd. from all the municipal buildings. With this decision, the City Council joins to the International Movement of Boycott, Desinvestments and Sanctions (BDS) against the State of Israel. The City Council of Cigales has taken this decision after a strong mobilization of its inhabitants, including demonstrations, signature event and public awareness campaigns. That�s was the third action of boycott against Eden and Israel in a Valladolid town this year. In the past month of July, the City Council of Villanueva de Duero removed Eden water. Also, In the past month of June, the teachers and workers of the Nursing School of the University of Valladolid asked to the Direction to remove Eden from the bottled water vending machines. The Direction agreed to that request. We, the Platform of Solidarity with Palestine-Valladolid, want to thank everybody in Valladolid for their commitment and support to the Palestinian people�s cause. These actions of boycott mean a major boost to the International Movement of Boycott, Desinvestments and Sanctions against the State of Israel. Besides, we ask to all the people of Valladolid, trade unions, companies, institutions and civil service to join to the BDS. In the province of Valladolid, we, the Platform of Solidarity with Palestine, have worked very hard this year on the International Movement of BDS. The boycott to Eden of Villanueva de Duero, Cigales and the Nursing School, and also the Israeli renunciation to attend Tourism Fair, are the result of this work.
