We surely don`t regard ourselves as experts in the wine industry, but we certainly know one or two things on the status of the land on which the grapes are grown at the Psagot winery. Like the business plan of the criminal `Meshek Achiya` brand (to which we already dedicated a post), Psagot Winery`s business plan, too, is based on serial property delinquency and systematic violence against Palestinian landowners. The Psagot Winery website details where the vineyards from which the grapes come are located. Four of the five vineyards located in the West Bank (Psagot, Elon Moreh, Kida - east of Shilo - and Har Bracha) are located around settlements populated by hard core extremist religious settlers, leading the trend of agricultural takeovers on privately owned Palestinian land in the West Bank. In 2013 we published the report, `Naboth`s Vineyard - Israeli settler agriculture as a means of land takeover in the West Bank,` in which we indicated that the majority of the wine vineyards sown by settlers from 1997 and 2012 were planted around religious and extremist settlements along the mountain ridge, and that indeed most of them (at least 57%) were planted on privately-owned land. This trend has also continued in recent years (2013- 2017), during which settlers took over an additional 320 dunums of privately owned Palestinian land to plant grape vineyards. Psagot Winery, established in 2003, was initially established on vineyards located around the settlement of Psagot, which were planted on surrounding broad private territories. These territories belong to the residents of Al Bireh, whose access to their land was blocked by systematic violence, which was later replaced by an illegal electric fence built around the settlement.
