| Let`s go to the West Bank | | Nina Mayorek - MachsomWatch - (PDF file, 1.58MB) - a short introduction to the Occupation. Presented during a recent tour with "Partners for Peace" - `The chief obstacle to peace between Israelis and Palestinians are the West Bank settlements: 145 permanent settlements and 105 outposts, all of which are illegal according to international law. It is important to add that the settlement enterprise continues now, in these days, at an accelerated rate. Settlements preempt the possibility of a two state solution. ` | 1/7/2006 |

| CPT exhibit of settler graffiti on Arab homes and public walls in Hebron | | You will not see these images on CNN or in the NYT. If such grafitti had turned up on a synagogue, it would make the top headlines. Yes, you will find some similarly ugly sentiments among Arabs. But the people who did these writings ("Arabs to the Gas Chambers!") know they enjoy impunity from the Israeli law, protection of the Israeli army and lavish funding and support of the State of Israel. | 24/7/2005 |

| Deir Ballut: Occupation Forces Begin Bulldozing Village Lands for Apartheid Wall’s Construction | | Deir Ballut: Occupation Forces Begin Bulldozing Village Lands for Apartheid Wall’s Construction - Palestinians Resist Latest Wave of Ghettoization. Work on the Apartheid Wall here began in June 2004. Sustained popular resistance from Deir Ballut and Zawiya villagers began at the same time as the building of the Wall with daily demonstrations by huge numbers of people from the villages. Eventually, the number of people who were being seriously injured, and the sheer resilience of the people of Deir Ballut forced the Occupation Forces to stop work on the Apartheid Wall for six consecutive months. Occupation Forces returned briefly in December to resume bulldozing with new maps for the Apartheid Wall which they claimed contained “modifications” (see map).

| The Ghettoization of Bethlehem: Destroying Palestinian Land, Life and History | | Occupation Forces seal off the main road through Bethlehem as they construct the Wall through the heart of the city. Homes and shops along the streets surrounding Rachel’s Tomb/Bilal Mosque have been forcibly evacuated during the construction which will annex 28 dunums from the city. Occupation Forces deploy Caterpillar machinery and teams of “technical” experts on a daily basis to level, destroy and raze Bethlehem for the Wall. Palestinian land is being annexed to Israel to make a car park for Rachel’s Tomb/Bilal Mosque, an area now inaccessible to Palestinians and stolen for the expansion of the Occupation.

| Deir Sharaf villagers resist toxic practices of Israel | | The village of Deir Sharaf demonstrates against the dumping of waste in their village. Occupation Forces confiscated a quarry belonging to the Abu Shusha family during an attack on this area in April 2002. Since then they have used it, often under the cover of night, to dump waste from the Kedumim settlement and a nearby Israeli industrial zone. It poses an enormous health hazard to the 3000 inhabitants of Dair Sharaf, as well as the communities throughout the Nablus district who rely on water supplies irrigated in this area. | 16/5/2005 |

| Photostory: Nablus`Old City | | The West Bank city of Nablus has historically boasted itself as the commercial and business center of Palestine. The West Bank`s largest city, it dates back some 4,500 years. However, Nablus` economy, cultural heritage, and population have come under attack during the past four years of Israeli violence. Its Old City walls have acquired a new layer of history in the political graffiti and martyr posters honoring the scores of mostly young men from Nablus who have committed suicide bombings or, far more frequently, were killed by Israeli violence.
