Tough, but we still hope that there will be a better tomorrow, someway, somehow. The current climate in the area of South Hebron Hills is gloomy and (we have to admit) that we are struggling to find the silver lining in the clouds. Yet, there is hope. A hope that we are requesting your assistance to translate into a reality for the struggling residents of the South Hebron Hills. As you might have been aware of, the Villages Group have been present in the area since 2002 and have been trying to forge human-to-human relations ever since. Knowing that it is IMPERATIVE to stand by our friends and to provide them with rays of hope, we have opted to support a very important sector; education !!! This conviction is what led us to support (and build from scratch) a number of kindergartens in the area, provide for after-school improvement classes as well as support for educational extracurricular activities. The “success” we have managed to gain in this arena was very refreshing while at the same time placing an even bigger responsibility on our shoulders ; now that our friends have graduated from the “regular” school, the only logical step is to attend university. This natural step is an expensive endeavour for our targeted population and it can be a heavy burden on the family of the student. As we are ALWAYS present, we have had to face this problem on yearly basis. So far, we have managed to pay the tuition for more than 18 students from the South Hebron Hills (most of which are women) to attend universities in the cities of Yatta, Hebron and Bethlehem. This process has been going on for the past TEN YEARS due to the magnificent efforts of lovely friend Liz from California. Yet, this year is a bit different as the improvements in the educational process has led to an increase in the number of high school graduates who aspire to attend their higher education in the nearby (and faraway) universities. So, who do they turn to??? No. Not Ghost Busters !!! They turn to the Villages Group. In turn, we turn to you. We need your URGENT help to make it easier for the youth of the South Hebron Hills to have some hope in their future through attending the new university world. This is very important especially for the women who scored high in their high school examinations knowing that a new future awaits them at the university. Please help us help them in attaining this very basic request. We would appreciate it and we are certain that the students of the South Hebron Hills will appreciate it, too. In order to accommodate the growth of the number of students (an increase of nearly 20%) we need to raise an additional sum of 10,000 New Israeli Shekels / 2,600 USD / 2000 GBP.
