Sun. Oct. 17: Help RHR protect Olive Groves from Settler Attacks
What a day!! And we have only 4 volunteers for Sunday. There was a `Operation Price Tag` fire in olive groves next to
KHavat Gilad after an army operation to confiscate goods. The army reneged on their committment to let the Hurshiya family plow near Mitzpeh Yair after settlers intervened with the commander. After that wonderful beginning with the Jabar family getting to their grape vineyards inside the Kiryat Arba security fence last Sunday for the first time since 2004, yesterday their army protection left early and the Kiryat Arba security officer threatened to crush their skulls. When they got back in today, a huge amount of grapes were gone. I just got back to Jerusalem, when I had to turn around because they saw Israelis entering their land again. Somehow I got there before the police. Nobody was there by that point, but needless to say that we need to be there on Sunday also. Our ability to go both north and south on Sunday depends on you...
Please call Yehiel at 050-2110639 after Shabbat, or call me if you can`t reach him, 050-5607034
Shabbat Shalom,
Arik
(editor addition: contrary to the downplayed reports in the media, RHR testify that this year is worse than previous years. In particular, near Havat Gilad settlers were vandalizing and torching trees in plain view of both their owners and the security forces who did nothing to stop or detain them. Then the same settlement`s spokesman had the nerve to tell the media that nothing happened).
