Creating a legal precedent: Palestine considers suing Israel in international sports courtJames M. Dorsey - Redress Information - Jibril Rajoub, President of the PFA (Palestinian Football Association) is demanding that six clubs based in Israeli settlements on the occupied West Bank be forbidden from taking part in the Israeli Football League. This demand is in accordance with the rules of FIFA, the International Football Federation, which forbid clubs from the territory of one national football association (in this case, the PFA) from taking part in the games of another national association. However, FIFA has so far hesitated to enforce its own rules, and the efforts of Israeli sport lobbyists were tacitly helped behind the scenes by Saudi Arabia amd the Gulf Emirates. Should FIFA fails to take more decisive action at its next council meeting in January 2017, Rajoub plans to take legal recourse and take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), the highest authority in the world of international sports. Amos Oz: Those who were dubbed `traitors` are in time shown to be trailblazersIlana Curiel - Y-Net - “People want to feel good and Breaking the Silence interferes with that. It`s very human, I do not mock this feeling" said writer Amos Oz. "I want our adversaries to ponder that moral force is not a luxury but an existential matter. One of the few remaining reasons to feel good as Israelis is that there are organizations such as Breaking the Silence and B`Tselem and Peace Now." Oz was speaking at a ceremony at Be`er Sheva University, where Breaking the Silence was awarded an alternative cash prize after the university administration denied them the Berelson Coexistence Prize. Outside a group of extreme right militants were shouting abuse and chanting "We love the IDF!" in which they were joined by members of Ya`ir Lapid`s "centrist" party. [ak] 8/11/2016
